We are a small and geographically isolated community and as such we are sure you can appreciate and understand that there is a certain level of nervousness about re-opening to visitors. Not only do we want to continue to ensure our own health and wellbeing but also yours if you wish to travel here.
Following a full risk assessment of the feasibility of carrying visitors on the ferry whilst maintaining the 2m physical distancing required we have concluded that it is currently not possible to operate the Ulva ferry safely. We are following Scottish Government guidelines and advice closely. As Covid-19 restrictions continue to be relaxed we will keep the situation under review with a view to restarting a service as and when changes to guidelines make it possible to do so.
Please be aware that the Boathouse Restaurant will not be opening at all this year. Cragaig Bothy, Sheila’s Cottage, and the Church will also not be open to the public and, Argyll and Bute Council have informed us that they will not be opening the toilets at the Ulva Ferry pontoons.
Obviously, those who are able to cross over to Ulva by their own means, may do so by, but please be aware of the limited services available on the island as noted above.
We want you to enjoy our island and look forward to welcoming everyone back when all this has passed.
As the situation changes we will update this post.
